Experiment 9 Unveiled: Art, Provenance, and The Future of Onchain Creations.

We are a Bitcoin-based collection consisting of 420 pieces, featuring 55 distinct species. Our journey began with a significant milestone—we inscribed a full 4-megabyte block, which we named “sat.” This was a first for any project, and what makes it even more remarkable is that name sats are extremely rare, among the rarest you can acquire in the Bitcoin ecosystem.

Our sat is called “A Good Doctor,” which ties into the essence of our project. The theme revolves around a “doctor on Bitcoin,” similar to Satoshi’s mysterious and experimental nature. Like how Satoshi created Bitcoin as an experiment, our first experiment, titled Experiment Nine, is the 420-piece collection. It is inscribed in a parent-child formation beneath the full block, giving us a dual-parent structure—one for Experiment Nine and another for the entire collection beneath it.

One of our standout features is the project’s strong provenance. You don’t need to rely on marketplaces like Gamma or Magic Eden to verify or find our pieces. The parent-child inscription structure ensures transparency and traceability directly on Bitcoin. Our launch was notably successful—our floor price surged 5x within the first 24 hours, and our guaranteed whitelist minted at over 90%, one of the highest rates across any chain without over-allocation.

Since launch, we have been expanding beyond the collection itself. We have developed Discord bots, AI tools, and even games on Bitcoin. Our games are playable on the BitBoy console, which has been an exciting way to engage the community. We are now moving into what we call the “World Two” phase, drawing inspiration from models like Pudgy Penguins and Meme Land. That said, we are not looking to expand the collection in terms of numbers; our focus is on enhancing value for our current holders.

Another notable aspect of our project is its sequential nature—the entire collection is numerically ordered from 1 to 420. Achieving that required significant technical effort from our team to ensure a robust foundation that supports future development. We have built a structure that allows us to innovate and explore multiple avenues moving forward.”

QUESTION: WITH OVER 250 UNIQUE TRAITS AND ANIMATED SPRITE SHEETS, EXPERIMENT 9 SHOWCASES A UNIQUE APPROACH TO ORDINALS ART. CAN YOU SHARE THE CREATIVE PROCESS BEHIND DEVELOPING SUCH DETAILED AND INTERACTIVE PIXELATED ARTWORK?

Answer: “Yeah, absolutely. One of the coolest aspects of our project is that we didn’t just stop at static art—we actually inscribed a console onto Bitcoin itself. This allows users to edit and manipulate their Ordinals directly on-chain. If you view your Ordinal on platforms like ordinals.com or ordinals.io, you’ll notice a dropdown hamburger menu where you can animate the piece.

We designed two distinct art styles. The first is the one most people are familiar with—the one displayed on marketplaces like Magic Eden and used in our promotions. But there’s also a hidden avatar-style art embedded within the same Ordinal. It’s got a nostalgic 8-bit vibe, reminiscent of classic Pokémon sprites, giving holders essentially two artworks in one. On top of that, you can inscribe text onto your Ordinal, which appears in a speech bubble, allowing for custom messages with a 36-character limit.

Reaching the level of detail we wanted wouldn’t have been possible without our incredibly talented artists. They’ve been instrumental since the beginning and continue to be a core part of our team moving forward. The creative process was a true collaboration—we threw around countless ideas, drew inspiration from various sources, and refined everything to match our vision.

We chose pixel art for a few reasons. First, we noticed a gap in high-quality pixel projects on Bitcoin. While there are notable ones like Wizards of Ord, there weren’t many that combined both quality and innovation. Second, Bitcoin’s inscription process makes file size a crucial factor—the larger the file, the higher the cost. Given that Experiment 9 includes over 250 traits for just 420 pieces, pixel art allowed us to compress files efficiently without sacrificing visual appeal. Even with that optimization, it still cost us over $10,000 to inscribe the full collection, which is significant but worthwhile.

Looking ahead, pixel art offers us flexibility. Future experiments could explore different art styles, or we could continue refining the pixel approach. That’s where Good Doctor Studios plays a key role—we’re not just an art project; we’re an art and tech studio capable of producing a wide range of creative and technical work. And honestly, what better canvas is there than Bitcoin?”

QUESTION: THE CONCEPT OF PARENT/CHILD PROVENANCE IS INTEGRAL TO THE EXPERIMENT-9 COLLECTION. HOW DO YOU SEE THIS MODEL EVOLVING IN FUTURE ORDINALS PROJECTS, AND WHAT ROLE WILL IT PLAY IN SHAPING THE BROADER ON-CHAIN COLLECTIBLES SPACE?

Answer: “The way we’ve structured it, we can potentially build an entire on-chain family tree—that’s how we like to describe it. From our four-mega inscription (which is actually the seventh largest inscription on Bitcoin), we can inscribe “siblings,” “aunties,” “uncles,” and “cousins,” all branching out from that central origin point. By clicking on any inscription at the base level of the tree, you can trace its lineage all the way back to the four-mega and see how each piece is connected. It’s a visual and technical representation of provenance that’s fully on-chain.

Looking ahead, there’s a lot of potential for this model to evolve, especially with concepts like multi-parent provenance. That’s something not many projects have explored yet—imagine two separate parent inscriptions interacting to create a new child inscription. No one has really combined two four-mega inscriptions to form something like that, which opens up fascinating possibilities for on-chain relationships and complex provenance structures.

Most parent-child systems in the space are straightforward: there’s a parent, and there’s a child. But we’re aiming for something more dynamic—it doesn’t have to just be another collection branching off. It could lead to new tech developments or entirely different creative experiments stemming from that same family tree.

One key advantage of our approach is that we don’t rely on marketplaces to validate our provenance. With many collections, like Bitcoin Puppets, there’s no parent-child relationship on-chain. You typically need an external list of inscription IDs or a marketplace like Magic Eden to confirm collection membership. In contrast, our inscriptions inherently contain those relationships—you can verify the entire structure directly on Bitcoin without needing any external reference.

Other projects, like Anche Monkeys, have explored parent-child models, and some are working on tools behind the scenes. But we wanted to create something accessible and self-sustaining—where you don’t have to rely on indexing services or third-party platforms. It’s appealing not only to collectors but also to people who might just appreciate the art itself, whether they discover it through on-chain exploration, social platforms like Instagram and TikTok, or even casual browsing in Web2 and Web3 spaces.”

QUESTION: THE “A GOOD DOCTOR” EXPERIMENT IS BUILT ON A FASCINATING CONCEPT OF ON-CHAIN PROVENANCE. COULD YOU SHARE THE INSPIRATION BEHIND NAMING THE PARENT INSCRIPTION AND HOW IT SHAPES THE VISION FOR EXPERIMENT 9 AND FUTURE PROJECTS?

Answer: “Yeah, so the inspiration behind the whole parent-child provenance and Experiment 9 really started with the names and the realization that nobody else had done a full block game stamp before. That opened the door for us. “A Good Doctor” just happened to be one of those names that worked out perfectly, and from there, everything just clicked—the creatures, the experiments, the science-related theme. We don’t really emphasize the science aspect too much in our messaging, but it became a natural fit. Funny enough, none of us have medical degrees, but the concept aligned so well with what we were creating.

The name “A Good Doctor” was not meant in the traditional medical sense. We have always viewed “doctor” here as a nod to a scientist—someone who experiments and explores. When you think about it, a doctorate spans many fields beyond medicine, and that broader meaning really resonated with us. It is about curiosity and pushing boundaries, which is exactly what we are doing with the project.

That theme of experimentation is why we named the collection Experiment 9—it ties back to experiments conducted on block nines, which hold rarity in themselves. From “A Good Doctor” as the parent inscription, we have built this ecosystem where each experiment is an exploration of new ideas. It gives us the freedom to try different things, whether that is through art, technology, or future projects under Good Doctor Studios.

At the core, it is all about experimenting—seeing what works, iterating, and bringing fresh concepts to the Bitcoin Ordinals space. That approach is central to how we think about not just Experiment 9 but everything we will be doing going forward.”

QUESTION: WITH EXPERIMENT 9 LAYING THE FOUNDATION, WHAT ARE THE NEXT STEPS FOR AGD STUDIOS? ARE THERE NEW EXPERIMENTS, FEATURES, OR PARTNERSHIPS IN THE PIPELINE THAT WE SHOULD BE EXCITED ABOUT?

Answer: “Yeah, we’ve got a lot in the works. We are partnering with a few projects in the future—Carl is working on those—but we can’t share too many details just yet. What we can say is that we’ll be giving people access to some of the tools and Discord activities we’ve built, which we’re really excited about. We’re also planning to release a series of one-of-one art pieces on Gamma as free mints, with the first one coming very soon.

One of the bigger developments is an AI tool we’re currently building. There will be a public version available on Twitter that anyone can use, and a private, token-gated version with blockchain-specific functionality to make navigating the space easier. We think that’s going to be a game changer for our community.

Our monthly educational sessions featuring special guests will definitely continue—that’s something we’re committed to. We believe in the importance of onboarding and making the space more accessible, so providing educational content will always be part of what we do.

On the physical side, we have some products in the pipeline and are planning to bring a lot of fun to Vegas with upcoming events and activations. There’s also a push on the Web2 front: you’ll start seeing more of our content across various social media platforms as we work to build out our brand, IP, and merch lineup leading up to Vegas.

So yeah, we’ve got a lot of exciting things for holders, new tools for the community, and some surprises we can’t wait to reveal. Stay tuned—it’s going to be a fun ride!”
